Shinkansen !!!

Today I traveled in the Shinkansen (the Japanese bullet train). It is amazing. The ride is so smooth that you don't seem to go that fast. That is, until you realize that you are already at your destination. I went into a series 700 train, that has a funny nose reminding of a duck's face. Cool....

Gong Xi Fa Cai !!

Well, happy Chinese New Year to everybody! I'm in Japan trying to run some interesting stuff in the Earth Simulator ( and trying the local food :).

Yesterday I had the best tonkatsu I have ever tried. The place is called "Tonkatsu Waku" and is in LandMark Plaza. For those of you not familiar with Japanese food "tonkatsu" is pork cutlet, breaded and deep fried. The tonkatsu in this place was heavenly. Juicy but well done, and it came with a wonderful Miso soup with some type of tiny clams that was delicious. The best part was that the price was more than reasonable: 1200 yen. That is about 7 Euros, or 15 Singaporean Dollars. A bargain for something of this quality. I may go there again before I get back to Singapore...
