Japan v2.0

Ok, I'm back from my second visit to Japan. This time it felt different. On my first visit to Japan I felt like I had just landed on a different plane of reality I was expecting to hear at any moment "Welcome to planet Japan" from the PA system in the train stations. That kind of thing...

This time, however, it simply felt a bit different. Probably because I can't understand a word of written Japanese, but then. The most interesting part was how I felt while being there. After living in Singapore for three years you get used to every building being new and recently painted, every street to be perfectly clean, and everyone to follow the rules. Japan makes Singapore seem like a The Truman Show.

I am usually so busy that I don't have time to stop and think about these things, but being in a different environment changes your usual habits and forces this little thought into your head. I think I was a lot more comfortable in Japan, even though I did not understand the language, that in Singapore. This is something I have to consider seriously.

By for now,
Mr. C
